A total of 7018 households are in the Village Savings and Lending Association (VSLA) groups contributing to women and economic empowerment.

A Girls Networking Platform gives birth to a Junior Leader for Girls Meet Vision Chemhere, a girl learner from Madzivire Secondary School, Buhera. Her parents separated before she started Grade 1 and from then onwards, she and her two siblings stayed with her grandmother and disabled grandfather. Up to now, she does not know the whereabouts of their parents and this in part contributed to a low self-esteem and a lack motivation in educational achievement. The confidence that other learners were exhibiting triggered a sense of determination that made her say to herself ‘if they can do it, then why not me?’

Zvikomborero Kufa’s journey from struggling to come to school to being selected for a girl’s leadership camp is a testament to her determination and resilience. Despite coming from a polygamous family of 12, with her being the 9th child, Zvikomborero Kufa has overcome numerous obstacles to pursue her education including her religion the apostolic sect. Zvikomborero Kufa has failed to attend school for much of her primary education, and she came to Gosho secondary school without even the ability to read and write, without a uniform and looking malnourished. Staying with her grandmother Zvikomborero suffered from lack of confidence, always lonely and sometimes skipping school due to lack of resources

Sarah Makumbe (15) is a form three student from Moses the Prophet secondary School who resides in Muzivi village, ward 11 under headman Nemhari. Sarah is an adolescent girl from divorced parents. After the divorce of her parents at a very tender age, Sarah was adopted by her aunt (mum’s sister) who stays with her alongside her children in a household of 8 people. Growing up in a broken family, Sarah’s participation in education was always low due to poor financing as she usually struggles with getting basic for school such as school fees and stationery. This impacted her self-esteem as it was very low and her confidence levels. She always found it very difficult to present in front of other learners or participate in class and because of that, her grades were always very low. When the START4Girls project announced to the school that they were going to conduct Girls Leadership camps in May 2022, the G & C department immediately selected Sarah to be one of the Girls Leadership camp participants who was in form 1 by then.
